Cornhole 101

About cornhole

Cornhole goes by several names, including corn toss, baggo, bags, bean bag toss or tumor toss.
The best part about cornhole is that anyone can play it — it’s simple, fun and for all ages.

It is a game in which players take turns pitching small bags filled with corn (or sand or beans) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a player reaches the score of 21.

Cornhole’s origins are debated. Some believe pioneers played a version of the game in the foothills of Kentucky. Many believe Cincinnati is its birthplace, and no one doubts its popularity in the Queen City. Other versions of cornhole’s history include a Midwestern farmer named Magillicutty, a German farmer and ancient civilizations of tribes tossing rocks at holes in the ground.

Cornhole’s popularity is escalating throughout the United States. It is most popular in the Midwest, especially on and around university campuses.
